God's grace through my daughter

there was a day earlier this month when i was crying about something.  esther was there, sitting at my feet.  i didn't want to cry in front of her but i didn't know what else to do and i wasn't sure how she would react.

her reaction was truly God's grace to me.  she started laughing. and she wouldn't stop.  i think she thought i was playing a game or something because she laughed harder and longer than i have ever heard her laugh before.  each sob brought a new wave of giggles.

you can imagine that its hard to cry when you have a laughing, joyful baby at your feet.

my crying session didn't last long.

Unless the LORD builds the house,
those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the LORD watches over the city,
the watchman stays awake in vain.
It is in vain that you rise up early
and go late to rest,
eating the bread of anxious toil;
for he gives to his beloved sleep.
Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD,
the fruit of the womb a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior
are the children of one's youth.
Blessed is the man
who fills his quiver with them!
He shall not be put to shame
when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.
(Psalm 127 ESV)
